High School Badminton Overview

Another successful and busy High School season has concluded. Throughout the season, as we trained, played and devleoped, our players constantly pushed themselves to improve and grow as individuals and as a team. Our coaching team is proud of the hard work and dedication brought to the court at every practice and match and it was truly inspiring to watch them all come together to support and encourage one another.

This year’s Badminton APAC competition was an exciting and competitive event, particularly as it was a Super APAC with all 12 international schools participating. Hosted in Seoul, it provided our young team members with three days of intense competition.  Each and everyone of our players demonstrated remarkable determination and perseverance, even in the face of defeats and challenges. They connected with old friends from other schools and made new ones along the way.  Proudly demonstrating their team spirit by helping and supporting each other showcased their passion for the sport.

Our Girls Doubles Team emerged victorious, securing the coveted Gold medal in a display of exceptional skill and strategic play. Even with an injured ankle they day before, our winners demonstrated incredible determination and flexibility. This achievement is a testament to their hard work and synergy on the court.

Our players continued their journey of fierce competition at the ACAMIS Badminton Tournament in Nanjing, where they faced tough opponents and pushed themselves to their limits. Despite the challenges, they displayed resilience and sportsmanship, representing our school with pride and determination. Three challenging days of match after match provided our players with some valuable competitive experience and opportunities to develop their on-court skills.

For everyone involved in either APAC or ACAMIS, an important lesson our players learned was the value of playing against more experienced and skilled opponents. Facing off against such players provided a valuable learning opportunity to observe different styles of play, learn new techniques, and push themselves to elevate their own game. It was encouraging to see our players rise to the challenge, take risks, and use those experiences as motivation to continue working hard and improving their own skills. Additionally, our athletes also learned the importance of sportsmanship and maintaining a positive attitude when dealing with poor line calls and scoring disputes. It was a valuable reminder that in the face of adversity, it is crucial to stay focused, maintain composure, and handle difficult situations with grace and integrity. These moments provided our players with an opportunity to practice problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, ultimately strengthening their ability to persevere and overcome challenges both on and off the court.

As we bid farewell to our graduating seniors, we reflect on the valuable contributions they made to the team. Their leadership, experience, and sportsmanship have left an indelible mark on our players, and we are grateful for the lessons they have imparted to their teammates. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and hope they will carry the spirit of badminton with them wherever they go.

All of the coaching team is grateful for the opportunity to play and work with such a talented and dedicated group of athletes, and we are already looking forward to seeing what next season has in store for us.
