A Tricities Tournament Victory for Boys Soccer!
  • The WAB Boys took an important TriCities victory this past weekend.

The boys traveled to Guangzhou and won all their matches to come back home with a new trophy.

Day 1 saw WAB take a solid 3-0 victory against AISG in Game 1. Carl Cassmer Ling-Vannerus, Oskar Hutchinson and Max Young scored for the WAB squad. In game 2, WAB faced SASPD with another victory for the boys, this time 2-0. Oskar Hutchinson scored twice during this game, extending his personal account one more time.

On day 2, the boys went back to the HuangPu Sports Center to take one more win against UISG to finalize the group stage at the top of the standings. Oskar Hutchinson, Jack Young and Leon Abendroth gave the black and yellow a 3-0 victory.

The WAB tigers fought in the final against SASPD on a completely different football field. The dimensions of the field changed the game and made it more of a battlefield, and less of a football match. The game finished with a 1-1 score thanks to an Oskar Hutchinson equalizer, forcing the lads to go to penalties.

Tai Corbett, Carl Cassmer Ling-Vannerus, Daniel Nestorovic and Oskar Hutchinson all scored their chance. Rainier Lundgren on an amazing performance, stopped two shots and gave the trophy to WAB in a 4-2 penalty victory.

Oskar was the top scorer of the 2023 TriCities tournament with 5 goals in 4 games. The WAB boys showed where the program is headed, by an amazing display of football quality and sportsmanship.

More games are still ahead and the boys will keep working hard to finish the season with as many trophies as possible. Let us congratulate our Tigers and wish them the best in their upcoming matches.
